In a stunning comeback, Andy Murray claimed his first title since October 2019 by winning the ATP Challenger event in Aix-en-Provence. The former world No. 1, who is playing with a metal hip, defeated world No. 17 Tommy Paul 2-6 6-1 6-2 in the final, lifting the trophy and ending a three-and-a-half-year drought. Although this was a second-tier tournament, Murray will take great pride in this confidence-boosting success ahead of the French Open.

After breezing past lowly ranked French players on his run to the final, the standard was lifted, and he came good in the final. Despite a poor start that saw him lose the first four games of the match, Murray turned the tables by winning the first five games of the second set, including two breaks of serve.

Murray's win ensures his return to the top 50 of the rankings and marks his first Challenger Tour level win for 18 years. The 35-year-old only took a late wild card into the tournament following an early exit from the ATP Tour event in Madrid. Now, he faces the decision of whether to go to Rome or rest and prepare for the French Open, which starts on May 22.

Speaking to atptour.com, Murray said, "This last year, 18 months has been a bit of struggle with my game. But [my team] have been there supporting me and working with me to try and get better. We keep going from here." With this triumph, Murray has shown that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level, and his fans are hoping that he can continue his form in the upcoming Grand Slam.
