The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned consumers against the use of PrimeZen Black 6000mg, a male performance enhancement capsule that has been recalled from the market.

The recall was announced in a public alert by NAFDAC's Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye, who said that the manufacturer, Volt Candy, is voluntarily recalling the one lot of PrimeZen Black 6000mg capsule due to undeclared ingredients.

The capsules were found to contain sildenafil and tadalafil, which are phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors used in FDA-approved products for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction. The presence of these ingredients renders the capsules unapproved drugs for which safety and efficacy have not been established and, therefore, subject to recall. NAFDAC warns that the capsules may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs and cause a significant drop in blood pressure that may be life-threatening, especially for people with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease who often take nitrates.

The product can be identified by the card colour in black with the name on it PrimeZen Black 6000. NAFDAC implores members of the public in possession of the above product to stop the sale or use and handover the product to the nearest agency office.
