President-elect, Bola Tinubu, left Nigeria for Europe two weeks after returning from a three-country visit to London, Saudi Arabia, and Paris. He is visiting Europe to fine-tune his transition plans and programmes and discuss policy options with his key aides without unnecessary pressure and distractions.
Tinubu will meet with investors and business leaders in manufacturing, agriculture, tech, and energy to market investment opportunities in Nigeria and promote a business-friendly climate through policies and regulations.
He hopes to establish mutually-beneficial partnerships to create empowering opportunities for Nigeria's youth population and revive the country's economy, which is a major plank of his Renewed Hope agenda.
Before leaving Nigeria, Tinubu met with the House of Representatives candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker endorsed by his party, the All Progressives Congress. He is scheduled to return shortly for preparations towards his official swearing in as the 16th President of Nigeria on May 29, 2023.
According to a statement from the Office of the President-elect signed by Tunde Rahman, the President-elect promised to hit the ground running and the visit is reflective of his commitment to the promise as he has already begun talks with global actors in the important areas of the economy and security.
