Businesses facing challenges with the CAC Portal

Businesses and corporate lawyers in Nigeria are facing challenges from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) portal, which has experienced significant downtime, barely functioning for more than an hour per day. 

The portal issues have caused pressing transactions to come to a standstill, affecting young and emerging entrepreneurs the most. Several users of the portal have complained about constant error messages, unscheduled site maintenance notifications, and automatic application of late fees when Annual Returns applications are filed.

Some issues have persisted since the inception of the platform, such as the late fees and annual returns. While CAC has a revised timeline for resolving complaints and issues from users, several users said the average timeline for resolving a complaint is two months, and tickets as far back as 2022 remain unresolved.
